Any time you read or hear the phrase "weight watcher", just what pops into your head. Do you picture a person enrolled in the Weight Watcher's diet system? Do you see somebody overweight on a scale looking downward at a number? Perhaps your weight watcher is on a fitness treadmill with a towel about their neck with sweat pouring down their forehead.
I will guess that to most of us, a weight watcher is somebody concerned with losing extra weight. However, what about the individual who is actually under a healthy weight? Wouldn't they also be considered a weight watcher, seeking to add weight instead of losing it? How about an individual that is a perfect body weight? Don't they also have to be a weight watcher if they're concerned about maintaining wherever they are at?
Finally, there's the weight watcher which seems to be looking through the wrong side of the binoculars. That would be the person that is an ideal weight or even under a healthy weight, but whenever they look in the mirror all they observe is someone extremely overweight. They would be either a vain or even an anorexic weight watcher.
My idea here is that almost anybody could qualify as a weight watcher or in other words, somebody that is paying attention to how much they weigh. Most certainly the argument can be made that everybody ought to be a weight watcher since weight has an important effect on one's overall health.
So now we have established the idea that anybody who will be paying attention to how much they weigh is a weight watcher. What exactly is it that determines being a successful one or not? Plus who actually or what is it that makes the judgment? Would it be you? Is it your significant other? Is it your personal doctor? Is it your trainer? Is it Jillian Michaels? Is it a book or a picture? Is it all these things or is it none?
The simple reply to this question is "YES"! Exactly what do I mean? Well, success at being a weight watcher, like countless other things in our existence is very subjective and personal. Each of the individuals mentioned above can have their own definition. Success is equally as much about a state of mind, as it is about fitting into a mathematical analysis.
To me, success is really a favorable "feeling" that's the result of "achieving a goal". When it comes to the health and fitness market, I think "progress" is a more valuable and "attainable objective" than "perfection" would be.
Therefore, the keys to being an effective weight watcher are to maintain a regular effort of consuming less calories than you burn up, participating in physical activity and experiencing and enjoying the positive feelings coming from your progress.
